Batch B524 is traditionally inspired and bold, starting with a robust aroma of peppery oak, cigar box, raisin, and baking spices. Heavily charred oak, tobacco, graham cracker, and caramel emerge on the palate, which tones the intensity down a notch though it remains as potent as expected for the proof. Baking spices, caramel, and aged oak define the bourbon’s long, otherwise straightforward finish.

TASTING NOTES

Nose: “The nose will knock you off your feet. The palate is ridiculously viscous, with cinnamon candies, rye, barrel, roasted vanilla bean & chocolate.”

Palate: Rich vanilla, caramel, and butterscotch along with spices of black pepper & cinnamon at the back of the palate

Finish: Nicely layered showcasing all flavors, fades slowly then lingers as it cools

In 1789, Elijah Craig became the first distiller to age his whiskey in new charred oak barrels. Some claim that an accidental fire charred his barrels and changed the whiskey inside. Others say he stored his whiskey in former sugar barrels and was impressed with how charring improved the flavor.

However it happened, Elijah Craig knew he had discovered something great. He continued to refine the barrel charring process, imparting smooth, rich flavor to the spirit that would become known as Bourbon. 250 years later, he is still known as the Father of Bourbon—and we craft our Bourbon today using the same time-honored methods.
