Product Description:
This rare and beautiful Victorian tea set, lovingly kept within a local family in Henley on Thames for generations, features a hand-coloured teapot, sugar bowl, and milk jug. These pieces, adorned with floral patterns of dark pink, purple roses, and blue flowers, were crafted for the esteemed Hawkins shop in Henley on Thames, famously visited by Queen Mary around 1900 when she attended the prestigious Henley Royal Regatta, an annual event regularly attended by the Royal Family. The teapot is identical to one listed in the collection at the River & Rowing Museum in Henley on Thames, underscoring its historical significance.
Some pieces feature stilt marks or spur marks, small indentations left during the firing process of the era, adding to the authenticity and charm of this rare Victorian collection.
