A charming 19th century French Directoire style petite chest handcrafted of mélèze (European larch) in the Alsace region of eastern France, circa 1850s. Rustic yet elegant, this provincial commode reflects the restrained neoclassical sensibilities of the Directoire period, adapted to Alsatian craftsmanship and scale.

The rectangular plank top  rests above a bank of three drawers — one long drawer over two short ones — each framed with simple molded panels and fitted with original brass shell-form bin pulls.
