Extremely rare frock the great Chicago department store label, Marshall Fields, this is an early 1900s dress in a gauzy, beige mesh fabric with a solid cream satin shell underneath. Collarless, it has a key hole at the center of the chest, surrounded with decorative buttons. The sleeves are half length and feature crochet embroidery panels at the cuffs. Torso is bloused and features pintuck embroidery at the shoulder fronts and floral embroidery across the lower front. Waist is nipped and accentuated with a large swath of cream satin that drapes across the front and attaches at the rear in a flourishing bow, with hidden snaps. The midi length skirt also has a layer of embroidered gauze on the outside, plus a longer layer trimmed in crochet matching the panels at the sleeves. It pulls on overhead and closes with buttons down the center back as well as interior hooks at the rear waist, which also bears the label. Shoulders 16" Chest 32" (along the gauze outer layer) Waist 23" Hips 48" Length 41" Condition: AS IS but still a beauty and salvageable. Exterior is in decent condition with no stains or tears but the interior solid shell has plenty of tears, especially around the right shoulder and chest area s seen in pics. The snaps that keep the sash tie in place at the rear need reattaching on one side. Priced accordingly.
