Victorian Cream Lace Dress Short Sleeves Floral Applique
Heavenly silk and lace evening dress from the turn of the 20th century. It pulls on overhead and features half sleeves, a silhouette that is close to the body, and a hook and eye closure down the torso of the the left front side that attaches the mesh underpinnings of the upper chest to the satin brocade. The satin brocade appears as an inverted V at the center of chest and continues through the natural waistline and at the skirt. The cream lace at the upper torso and sleeves has various layering patterns and ornate embroidery with the sleeves echoing satin pleated panels and rosettes that are found across the skirt. The skirt has a faux wrap style look at the bottom, offset with decorative buttons and large, cream lace panels at the sides of the hips. Rear of skirt has a large, lace panel running horizontally across the middle. No labels.
Condition: Fair to good and sold AS IS / Priced accordingly Only one of the four decorative buttons at center chest remains as is, with remnants of the other ones, while seven of the eight buttons at bottom of skirt are glorious, while one of them lost its creamy finish but retains its base.. There is a small light brown stain at right chest of the lace, another very faint one near the neckline at left collarbone on the mesh, and a few more light brown stains at the satin skirt, middle of the right front thigh. They are fairly subtle (please see pics). It has plenty of costume wear left in it to say nothing of study purposes. No tears that I can see.
