This 17-year-old Foursquare was distilled in 2006 and aged 14 years in American white oak casks before being transported to Europe in 2020 where it was transferred into a once used bourbon barrel. We try many independently bottled Foursquare rums, and often don't find them living up to the official bottlings, but this one stood out to us as classic Foursquare with just a little extra richness. Bottled at a cask strength of 59.6% abv, the mouthfeel is viscous, oily, and huge. You get major vanilla cream, with chai tea spices, dark cocoa, nutmeg, allspice, a lovely hint of sandalwood, and the classic Foursquare toasted coconut note.
