Issued in 1992 by the Republic of the Philippines, this ₱7 postage stamp features the Akapulko plant (Cassia alata), a native shrub celebrated for its medicinal properties. Known locally as the “ringworm bush,” its yellow candle-like flower spikes are used in traditional herbal medicine for skin ailments. The design captures the plant’s lush green pinnate leaves and distinctive yellow inflorescence against a soft blue background, emphasizing the country’s rich botanical heritage. A fine example from the Philippine flora definitive series of the early 1990s.
