This exquisite gold moiré silk gown, dating from circa 1815–1820, is a rare and beautifully preserved example of Regency-era fashion. Entirely hand-stitched, the dress features an unstructured bodice with a front opening that lacks fastenings, a standing collar, and elegant leg-of-mutton sleeves - all hallmarks of early 19th-century design. The interior is lined with calico, and the skirt is pleated at the back, with an adjustable drawstring waist at the front for a custom fit.
Despite its age, the gown remains in very good and clean condition, with only occasional small marks consistent with careful wear. Measurements include a bust of 86 cm (34 inches), sleeve length of 70 cm (27.5 inches), and a front length of 137 cm (54 inches) extending to 144.5 cm (57 inches) at the back.
With provenance from a private collection in Derbyshire, England, this gown is an extremely rare find, ideal for collectors of historic textiles, Regency costume, or museum-quality fashion artifacts.
