This is a 27 Inch Hand-Hammered Nepali Temple Gong One of a Kind

Nepali temple gongs are hand-hammered in the Kathmandu Valley by bronze craftsmen specialists.

This one is 27 inches across, hammered from a bronze in the bell-metal family, patinated dark, and finished with a full iconography that is unique to this one gong.

The central feature of this gong is a mountain, lotus, and rising sun scene.

A large sun or moon disc rises behind a range of engraved mountain peaks. At the base of the mountains, a lotus blossom sits in still water, with horizontal water lines spreading across the lower field.

The inner ring frames the scene with radiating petal ornament, while the outer border carries floral and vine details around the gong.

The tone here is a deep A#2 held as the main voice, with a clear B3 above it and a softer D3 partial that gives the bass a steady inner support.

Played with a soft mallet it opens firmly, then briefly brightens as the B3 partial comes forward before the sound settles into a low, even sustain.

The character is grounded and slightly luminous, with the A#2 carrying the body of the sound and the upper partials adding a mountain-air brightness at the front of the strike.

Playing will favor a single clean strike and a patient rolled crescendo that brings the low voice forward without overdriving the brighter color. It sounds like a different instrument depending on how you choose to play it.
