This piece began life as a leather-and-chiffon dress whose silk lining and skirt were severely shredded, but rather than discard it we rebuilt it into a statement top for our Upstyled / Upcycled collection.

We preserved the sculpted leather bodice with its deep V front and the original long sleeves with leather cuffs so the signature structure and texture contrast remain intact. The destroyed chiffon skirt was removed entirely, shifting the silhouette from dress to cropped top and revealing the strong, paneled lines of the leather.

At the back, the original zipper was cut away and replaced with a hand‑finished lace‑up closure threaded through metal eyelets. The new closure gives the garment adjustability and a rock n´roll style corset‑inspired attitude while extending its lifespan.

Because the back lining was also damaged, we inserted a fresh, clean lining to restore comfort and structure without altering the exterior look. In the “before” image, the dress reads as a fluid A‑line with a soft chiffon fall from the waist. In the “after,” the eye goes straight to the sharp leather tailoring: the V neckline, the curved bust seaming, and the defined waist that now ends at a neat cropped hem.

The lace‑up back becomes a design feature, adding versatility—you can cinch it for a sculpted fit or wear it with a touch of ease over layers. The result is a one‑of‑one transformation that honors the original craftsmanship while giving the garment a second life with a modern, editorial edge.
