In order to optimally brew coffee Hario designed the cone with a V-shape design. There is also a large hole at the bottom of the V60 dripper. This ensures that the hot water can be poured slow or fast; thoroughly extracting all the goodness from the beans. The reason for V60 spiral ribs is to help air-flow.
