Due to health reasons, Elischka was forced to make his last visit to Japan in October 2017 for a subscription concert with the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra. The sound of Brahms No. 3 has been reworked and newly re-mastered.This is the best complete Brahms cycle that even the most seasoned Brahms enthusiast should own! ＜Radomir Elischka(1931-) is the Principal Guest Conductor of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra. He studied under Janacek's great brother Břetislav Bakala at the Brno University of Music in the Czech Republic, and from 1969 to 1990 was the Principal Conductor and Music Director of the prestigious Czech orchestra, the Karlovy Vary Symphony Orchestra. In 2006, he gave a legendary performance at the subscription concert of the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra, and in 2008, he became the first Principal Guest Conductor of the orchestra. His live CD with the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra has been highly acclaimed. He served as the president of the Czech Dvorak Society from 2001 to June 2013.＜The Sapporo Symphony Orchestra was founded in 1961 under the name of "Sapporo Citizens' Symphony Orchestra" and became the "Sapporo Symphony Orchestra Foundation" in 1962, and in 2009 became the first public interest incorporated foundation among orchestras. Known as the "Sapporo Symphony Orchestra," it is the only professional orchestra in Hokkaido, which has a population of more than 5.4 million people on 83,457 square kilometers (22% of Japan's land area). Based at the Sapporo Concert Hall Kitara, which is known for its excellent acoustics, the orchestra is widely known for its transparent sound and powerful expressiveness, which is appropriate for the majestic island of Hokkaido. Successive conductors include Masao ARATANI, Peter SCHWARZ, Hiroyuki IWAKI, Kazuyoshi AKIYAMA, and Tadaaki ODAKA. Otaka served as regular conductor from 1981 to 1986, music advisor/permanent conductor from 1998, and music director from 2004 to March 2015.In April 2015, the orchestra welcomed Max Pommer as Principal Conductor, and the live CD recordings of the orchestra's wide-ranging program, from Bach to contemporary music, received rave reviews. Radomir Elischka has served as Principal Guest Conductor since 2008 and Honorary Conductor since 2015, and his combination with the Fuda Symphony Orchestra has received high acclaim. The recordings featured not only Czech music, his specialty, but also symphonies by Brahms, Tchaikovsky, and others.
