New release from Beaux-Freres owner Mike Etzel's new label, Sequitur. Tiny production.
97 Points Jeb Dunnuck: "The Sequitur 2022 Pinot Noir Triple Seven was raised in 30% new French oak and fermented in concrete. A jeweled ruby color with a light magenta hue, it’s pure and spicy with a savory depth to its notes of ripe raspberry, preserved cherries, wild roses, and mossy earth. Medium-bodied, it has a wonderfully refreshing feel, with ripe, well-defined tannins and a long, tapered, spiced finish. It’s crispy and refreshing all the way through. Drink 2026-2040."
96 Points Vinous: "The Sequitir 2022 Pinot Noir Triple Seven is a total pleasure on the nose, displaying wonderful harmony. It blends enriching notes of cherry sauce with dusty sage, lavender, earth tones and hints of rosemary. This is round and expansive on the palate, with a solid core of primary fruit that saturates beneath an air of violet inner florals. The 2022 takes on a flowery concentration through the finish, tapering off with a tart cranberry crunchiness and edgy tannins, all offset by a bump of residual acidity. The potential here is off the charts."
Mike D. Etzel has been the co-owner and winemaker at Beaux Frères since the late 1980s and began planting a vineyard adjacent to Beaux Freres in 2010. He then launched a new project with partner Carey Critchlow known as Sequitor. The inaugural Pinot Noir under the Sequitur label was the 2014 vintage.
