The Special Threat Rated Level III+ designation means these plates go beyond the standard NIJ 0101.06 Level III threat matrix and are rated to defeat the higher-velocity and penetrator-core rounds that defeat standard Level III steel. Two coating options are available. The Base Coat is 0.25" thick and weighs 8 lbs 1 oz per plate. The Full Coat is 0.5" thick (12.7–15.2 mm) and weighs 8 lbs 10 oz per plate. The Full Coat's additional encapsulation significantly reduces fragmentation risks by containing spall that would otherwise project outward on bullet impact. Specifications for Single Curve and Advanced Triple Curve (ATC) geometry are identical across both coating levels.

Plate compatibility and cut geometry

The Achilles Package ships with 10" x 12" Shooters Cut plates as standard. Shooters Cut trims the upper corners of the plate to open up arm range of motion compared to a square-cornered plate, making it the most common choice for active-use carriers. The Achilles carrier itself accepts 10" x 12", 11" x 14", and 9.5" x 12.5" Medium ESAPI plates, so the plates included in this package fit the carrier natively, and you retain the option to swap to a different size later. The carrier additionally accommodates 6" x 6", 6" x 8", and 5" x 11" side plates — available as an add-on at checkout. Achilles Laser Cut Plate Carrier

The Achilles carrier is built from 1000-denier polyester with laser-cut MOLLE webbing across the front, rear, and cummerbund panels. Laser-cut MOLLE eliminates the bulk and weight of sewn-on PALS rows, keeping the profile slimmer while retaining full accessory attachment compatibility. The carrier runs from size Small through 4XL with a fully adjustable and removable cummerbund and an adjustable internal buckle system for dialing in fit across a wide range of torso lengths and chest circumferences.

Comfort features include padded shoulder straps, padded front and rear panels with ventilation vents, and a rear drag handle. A removable triple M4 mag pouch comes pre-installed on the front panel, and a YKK-zippered admin pouch provides secure storage for documents, tools, or electronics.
