Stan Getz Quartet
Description:
The recording is full of taut tones and unpredictable ad-lib solos that flow from a tenor saxophone filled with a quiet heat, and you can also feel the excitement of the audience. The club became known as a prestigious club after a number of live recordings were released through Steeplechase. One of them is this live performance by cool tenor Stan Getz with his quartet in early 1977. The quartet featured Joanne Brackeen on piano, Danish virtuoso Niels-Henning Elsted Pedersen on bass, and Billy Hart on drums. The two songs that follow, "Infant Eyes" and "Leicester Left Town," are the best of Getz's playing from the late '70s.
